Downtown Tampa Grid Project

**Beat the Traffic! Convenient Transportation Options Available**

The first phase of roadway and infrastructure improvements in southern downtown Tampa has begun. This is the first step in the phased development project undertaken by Strategic Property Partners (SPP), the joint venture of Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment, LLC. SPP plans to create an urban, mixed-use waterfront development spanning over 50 acres consisting of office, residential, hotel, educational, entertainment, cultural and retail uses, totaling over $3 billion of investment.

These improvements will help create a functional street grid through southern downtown, linking downtown’s Channel District with the Central Business District. The work includes wide sidewalks and enhanced lighting which will become the foundation for the active streetscapes planned by the developer, Strategic Property Partners.

Over the next 18-24 months, periodic lane and road closures will be in effect. This page will update with information that directly affects Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm home games, and concerts and events at Amalie Arena. All fans are also encouraged to sign up for real-time updates from the project team.
